Blasket Islander, Dr Mícheál Ó Céarna

Dr Mícheál Ó Céarna (94) is one of the last living Blasket Island natives. He was born on An Bhlascaoid Mhóir and later carved out a life for himself in the USA. He is an advocate of Irish Language rights and was awarded an honorary doctorate from NUIG Maynooth in respect of his life-long commitment to An Ghaeilge and Irish culture in Ireland and the USA. Here he speaks - as Gaeilge - to Marian O'Flaherty about growing up on the island and his hopes for the future.
