« BackNo timeline for Kilcummin Sewerage Scheme sees housing development refused

Permission has been refused for 33 houses in east Kerry due to uncertainty over the delivery of the Kilcummin Sewerage Scheme.
The houses were earmarked for sites at Clashnagarrane.

Last July, Kerry County Council refused permission to Barth O’Neill for one detached house, 28 semi-detached dwellings, four terraced homes and a creche at Pairc Chuimin, Clashnagarrane, Kilcummin; the application was an amended version of one previously granted permission.
Mr O’Neill appealed this to An Bord Pleanala which has upheld the decision of the local authority.
The planning appeals board said there is no timeline for the delivery of the Kilcummin Sewerage Scheme and there are deficiencies in the existing wastewater treatment system.
This, the board said, means the proposed development would be premature, prejudicial to public health and contrary to the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.
Two other applications relating to the same location by Mr O’Neill were granted permission; these were for the retention and completion of six houses and converting an existing building intended for a creche to two houses.
