Kerry people are advised not to buy animals as Christmas presents this year.
Inspector Kerry Ryan of the KSPCA says it is an old message but one that people have taken on board.
He’s praised the fact that the number of people getting animals in December has decreased.
He went on to say that once an animal has entered a new home it must receive full attention and Christmas is not the right time for this.
Inspector Ryan says that the excitement of Christmas is a frightening and confusing time for an animal.
