A Killarney man with a serious alcohol problem has appeared in court charged with stealing a hand sanitiser.
36-year-old Rory O’Neill of Muckross Road, Killarney was before Tralee District Court for stealing the item, which has a high alcohol content, from University Hospital Kerry.

Tralee District Court heard on being released from University Hospital Kerry on Wednesday (the 14th of December 2016) Rory O’Neill stole an alcohol hand sanitiser and drank half of it.
Gardaí arrested him on the main road in Rathass, Tralee after motorists reported him swaying out in front of vehicles.
Solicitor for Mr O’Neill, Padraig O’Connell said his client has acute alcoholism.
The court heard 130 ambulances have been called out to tend to him in recent years.
He was remanded in custody to appear again at Tralee District Court next Wednesday.
