« Back177 Kerry ESB customers to have meters replaced

ESB NetworksESB Networks says it’s written to 177 Kerry customers whose electricity meters will be replaced.

The company says some 27-thousand customers nationally may have been overcharged because of faulty meters; they say those wrongly charged will be refunded.

ESB says around 17,000 meters may contain a faulty component, with indications of a 10% failure rate within this specific batch, which were mainly installed in apartment blocks in 2007 and 2008.

Manager of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at the ESB, Bernardine Maloney says 56 meters in Kerry may have the faulty component, but she expects fewer than 10 people will have been overcharged.
